Not sure how USFA operates, but with ASA an organization bids on the tourney (i.e. pays for) to host. If awarded they make money from entry fees and concessions. That is why you usually have to pay to get in to the fields (I believe Baytown GFSA paid around 3K a few years back to host the ASA State 8U).

That said, when it is awarded you have a responsibility to put on a good tourney. We worked hard on our fields, and even mowed the outfield where the championship game was held (while the semi-final was played) even though we had mowed during the week. We worked hard on the fields all week to have them prepared.

Sounds like Beaumont made an error and dropped the ball on this one.

Our 14U group was paid to pickup trash and help with gates some, but they were not the hosts. The City is responsible for the fields in BMT. Allways have been. They will not allow a host team to drag and chalk fields. They pay City Maint. Hands OT to do it. Go figure!!!

I know GT Shockers had some concessions responsibility as well on fields A,B,C. I'm sure, a you stock it and work it you keep the money deal nothing wrong with a team trying and atleast they offered something. I think $1 water and $2 Powerade typical cost at any tourney.
