I just bought my daughter a new glove and was wondering if anybody had some tips on breaking it in?

1) Apply a small amount of the nacona conditioner. Do not use oil it will soak into the lining. 2) start rolling the glove up from thumb to fingers then fingers to thumb. Just like you would roll up a newspaper. Do this over and over and over. 3) in between that stretch the glove by grabbing the thumb and last finger and pull. 4) If the glove is really stiff i will beat it with a rubber mallet. 5) Do these 4 things over and over for 2 or 3 days then play catch with it. If it is still stiff repeat 2-4. In about a week the glove should be in good shape to use in a game |

Thanks for posting the reply. I assumed someone would have a tried and true method for helping break in a new glove.

Use a old toothbrush to brush Nokona glove paste into glove, put a ball in glove and wrap with old shoelace. Then, on a hot day in HOUSTON, put the glove in your car all day in the sun. That really gets the glove nice and soft but still has proper shape...good luck

Example= Place a softball in the pocket of the glove, with the pocket ( open part of glove ) facing you back car tires. Now slowly back the tire onto the glove stretching the fingers around the ball. ( do not roll over the ball, just the front of the glove until tight. It usually takes two people---one to drive and one to watch the glove ) Leave it on there for about a day if possible. Then reapply conditioner. You will have a stretched, soft glove with a heck of a ball pocket. |
